Our Theme

This year, the XRCVC has aspired to scrutinize the everyday aspects of our being, under the light of visual constraints. By focusing on the areas concerning education, financial services and
employment opportunities, we realize the shortcomings of our systems which are often taken for granted.
Through education, we seek to explore the various techniques used by the visually challenged students. We also focus on the availability of printed resources in this context. The participants will learn more about the educational methods of the visually impaired which are only slightly different from those used by the sighted students.
Focusing on financial services, Antarchakshu 2012 throws light on how the visually impaired access the existing services. The event will also showcase a live accessible ATM, a major step of
financial inclusion which has begun in India.
Under our theme of employment opportunities, the event will create awareness about the involvement and employment of the visually challenged in various fields of work. Thinking beyond the box, we look into other career options such as adventure sports and help our sighted participants re-think whether one even needs sight to decide and engage in a career of one’s choice or whether it is merely a matter of aptitude and interest.
The whole Antarchakshu experience will take 45 minutes to 1 hour but we promise that each and every second will be worth it.

XRCVC

Antarchakshu is conceptualized and organized by the Xavier’s Resource Centre for the Visually Challenged (XRCVC), St. Xavier’s College.

The XRCVC is a state-of-the-art facility aimed at providing holistic support services to the visually challenged. We work with the visually challenged at both the micro and macro levels in the fields of
accessibility and awareness.

The XRCVC engages in a range of national level advocacy work that aims at bringing inclusion in various walks of life for persons with visual impairment. The key areas of our advocacy work include – Educational access, print access, and financial access.
The XRCVC has achieved significant success in each of these
areas in being able to bring about new rules and regulations and setting up new models for inclusion E.g.- New RBI, IBA, NSDL rules relating to financial services, accessible content creation partnerships
with publishers, new streams of educations being opened up like in Science, Psychology, Physiotherapy.

You can learn more about us by visiting our website www.xrcvc.org.

Join us on the 14th and 15th September. It's bound to be an amazing experience, you definitely don't want to miss out. See you there!

A Glimpse of Antarchakshu 2011

An insight...

Tell me and I’ll forget; show me and I may remember; involve me and I’ll understand.”

Antarchakshu – The Eye Within, going by this famous Chinese proverb, strives to engage people from all walks of life to get involved and understand for themselves the life of a person with disability to overcome and break misconceptions and create new avenues for people with disabilities.

We aim to spread awareness amongst the sighted community about rules that the visually impaired are entitled to but rarely get the benefit of because of the ignorance amongst the sighted world.

ANTARCHAKSHU 2012

Antarchakshu- The Eye Within

Antarchakshu is back again.
An event held by the XRCVC to make one aware of the lives of the visually challenged.
It's been one whole year since we had our event based on the theme 'Legal Access, Consumer Products and Recreation' with a special emphasis on banking and the true meaning of an accessible ATM. If you were there last year, you definitely know that this event is a major eye-opener. We aren't being biased here, it IS a heart warming experience that takes just 45 minutes away from your day. Us -the coordinators and volunteers were blown away by the event last year and the huge response.
