XRCVC presents Antarchakshu 2011 on 9th and 10th September at St.Xavier's College,Mumbai from 10:30 am to 5:30 pm with very refreshing and innovative themes-recreation,basic legal rights and use of consumer products which would convey to the masses as to how friendly, convenient and accessible these three fields are to the visually challenged. It would also focus on the challenges and problems faced and overcome by them. The objective of the event is to spread awareness about the lives of the visually impaired. By focusing on the areas concerning recreation, use of consumer products and basic legal rights, we realize the shortcomings of our systems which are often taken granted for. The participantswill be made to go through various activities to get firsthand experience of the world of the visually impaired and come to their own understanding of the same.
Through a series of blindfolded events you will have an enlightening and enriching experience. So do come and experience a new world of possibilities with Antarchakshu.
We would like to thank our sponsors for the event: Johnson &Johnson's Godrej and Mumbai Eyecare Campaign for Sightsavers.

Antarchakshu is not to emphasize on the obstacles faced by the visually impaired but is in true sense an experience to prove that the environment can become as accessible to the visually impaired and the physically disabled as it to the sighted. It is a step to empower the community in interacting with the disabled and empowering the disabled to independent living. It is an initiative that needs to be supported from every quarter. The other day as I was walking down chunabhatti station, a middle aged visually impaired gentleman got off the train looking helpless, wanting to ask for help but a little hessitant. At the same time the people around either out of sheer ignorance or out of fear of a backlash from him not willing to go forward. If the XRCVC had not been such a significant part of my life for the last three years, I would have been one of the many insensitive souls on the platform. I urge people to come ahead foe an experience of a lifetime and be part of Antarchakshu.....Hope to see you there!!
